Xperia 1 V renderings exposed with a strange camera design and price tag!

There have been some intriguing reports about the future Sony Xperia 1 V, including one about the camera and another the price. Given the fierce competition that Sony’s 2023 flagship smartphone will face, there are already some high expectations for the device.

Every now and then, a piece of information on a Sony Xperia 1 V appears, and it is wise to treat each of these rumor nuggets with a grain of salt. The Xperia 1 V cameras are rumored to have improved primary sensors.

The Mark 5 version of the Sony Xperia 1 has been mentioned by an unreliable source on Weibo (via Reddit), who made the following claim: “the next generation of Xperia may have more front cameras and fewer rear cameras.” It’s as unclear as most leaks from Weibo tend to be, but according to a second source, the “additional front cameras” really refers to the previously mentioned speculated front-facing “ultra-micro-hole” camera array.

This claim, however, might also suggest that a dual selfie camera and that the triple-camera system on the back would be replaced by a more powerful two-lens system on the Xperia 1 V. A user on Esato speculated in a separate post that Sony might choose a cheaper pricing plan for their 2023 Xperia 1, with “many variables” allowing the corporation to decrease the price tag a little.

The Sony Xperia 1 IV is priced at US$1,599.99 and the Xperia 1 range’s price tags have seen some eye-watering increases during the course of the series.  Xperia 1 V is however expected to have a “price-cut” bringing the price to around US$1,200-1,300. Their phone would still be categorized as a premium device but coming at a more competitive point.
