Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 brought a significant improvement in performance and efficiency, we have since learned that its successor has even greater goals. According to a reputable informant, Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship platform will have a new CPU design and considerably increase clock speeds
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is said to have one prime Cortex-X4 CPU core at unprecedented 3.7 GHz, five powerful cores for performance and two small cores for efficiency – which is absolutely absurd!
According to Digital Chat Station the model number is SM8650, and the GPU will be called Adreno 750. Expectations are for TSMC to continue manufacturing the chips, moving from the N4 to the N4P node, which is still a 4nm process technology but with a slight uptick in efficiency.
The reason TSMC is not going for 3nm process is the production cycle – N4P is good enough and fairly affordable, and the factories in Taiwan are ready to begin mass production once the trial is completed by phone companies.
There is also a leak wherein the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Geekbench score on a Xiaomi Engineering machine is 1.7 million!
Geekbench:
Single core: 2563
Multi Core: 7256
GPU: 8621
It also reached 1.7 million points in AntutuV9!
This data shows that the upcoming processor will be a beast larger than Apple’s bionic chips!
Apple do not have an answer to this yet but what if they decided to put an M3 chip for their iPhone 15 Pro? That will surely even out the odds!
