itel P55 5G Unboxing: Big Performance, Tiny Price

The new itel P55 5G is a combination of beauty, power, and toughness – rare in the entry-level market.

Unboxing

The box of itel P55 5G is typical in shape and form. The cover shows the phone’s unit in big font and some of the key specs at the bottom. We received the 6/128GB variant of this device, which is also available via online retailers.

The back and side of the box are dominated with itel’s iconic red hue. The same default wrapping of itel P55 5G is basically color red with a splash of white and black for some contrast.

However, the back of the wrapping is transparent to show you the beautiful colorway of the phone. In our unboxing, we have the Galaxy Blue and it shimmers when struck by light.

The packaging also contains the user manual, phone case, charging brick, charging cable, SIM ejector pin, and a pair of earphones. The phone case isn’t very special but the earphones and charging brick are, considering many phones on sale no longer have them.

All in all, the itel P55 5G is ready out of the box. Listen to music on the get-go or charge it right away because those accessories are yours on the get-go.

Front Design

The itel P55 5G has a 6.6-inch display panel with 90Hz refresh rate for buttery smooth scrolling. It has a waterdrop design but it isn’t an annoyance when viewing contents. Although the bezels aren’t that thin, the phone’s balanced height and width make it seem that the screen is very big.

The manual brightness at max is adequate and may feel so strong indoors. Those with sensitive eyes may want to turn on the auto brightness and eye protection mode in the display settings.

Since the display supports a 90Hz refresh rate, scrolling and navigating are surprisingly smooth. No apparent lags and switching between apps are uninterrupted. Swiping photos in the Gallery app has no issue from left to right and vice versa. Loading videos from the same app is fast and responsive as well.

Rear Design

The rear design of itel P55 5G comes with a unique texture. The Galaxy Blue variant shimmers when hit by any light source, even indoors.

The cameras are contained in two circular camera bumps, along with the LED flash. These bumps take a bit of space at the top part though.

The shimmer effect is just one part of the back design. There are also light streaks that give contrast and structure to the device’s main aesthetics. Placing it facing down makes the phone an eye candy.

Ergonomics

Comfort and grip are crucial because we hold our phones most of the time. itel P55 has a good grip for average-side hands. The volume rockers are located on the right with the power key just below it. The card tray is located at the right side.

The power key is easily accessible with either left or right hand. This key is convenient for the middle finger of the left hand while the thumb of the right hand.

The volume rockers may take some time to get used to. You may need to lift the middle finger to reach it on the left hand or use the index finger, though extra effort is required. The thumb of the right hand has the most reach for these rockers, but moving your thumb may lower the grip of the phone.

So, give yourself the time to adapt to the overall size and feel of the phone.

Final Thoughts

itel P55 5G is pleasing to the eyes and good for the grip. It has good brightness and color and it’s not slippery while holding it with one hand.

If you’re planning to use two SIM cards and a microSD card slot, you’re blessed because the card tray supports all three! If you like listening to music via the speaker, the single-firing speaker on this smartphone is loud and decent. The bass is weak but the details are clear for the most part.

Overall, the itel P55 5G has a vibe of a mid-range smartphone. It’s sturdy to touch and appealing to the eyes at the same time, which are uncommon finds on many entry-level phones.

itel P55 5G has an official suggested retail price of ₱5,999, launching on December 7, 2023. Check out the phone on Shopee, Lazada, and the TikTok Shop.
