Philippines ranks 49th globally in Ookla’s Q4 2023 data for broadband internet speeds

Into December 2023, the statistics reflect an upward trajectory, with median country speeds reaching 28.12 Mbps for mobile and a robust 92.92 Mbps for fixed broadband. These figures represent an improvement over November’s stats, which stood at 27.75 Mbps for mobile and 92.19 Mbps for fixed broadband, underscoring the consistent growth in both mobile and fixed broadband speeds in the country.

In Q4 of 2023, Ookla once again commends Smart for securing its position as the fastest mobile operator in the Philippines. Smart excelled with a remarkable median download speed of 37.64 Mbps, outpacing its competitors. Globe claimed the second spot with 26.44 Mbps, followed by DITO at 19.74 Mbps.

The dominance of Apple devices in median download speeds continued, reaching an impressive 51.19 Mbps. Samsung lagged behind at 37.76 Mbps, while Xiaomi achieved a respectable 30.66 Mbps.

The Philippines has experienced a decline in its global ranking since its peak in 2022 when it held the 40th position. Despite an improvement in internet speed within the country, the drop in ranking can be attributed to the substantial advancements in the internet speeds of other nations.
