No to iPhone 16 Pro, Yes to iPhone 17 Pro with 2-nm chipset by TSMC in 2025

Apple could be aiming for two different process nodes. One of them would reshape mobile computing and AI.

Waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro? You may want to hold your horses because according to new reports, TSMC’s 2-nm chipset is setting the stage at the end of this year.

These reports suggest that TSMC will debut its 2-nm chipsets at the end of 2024. That means, they will be ready for mass production in 2025.

That said, flagships in the middle or late 2025 will likely be equipped with such a chipset. Upcoming devices like the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra are expected to be part of the first recipients.

But besides those, Apple is perhaps pushing for something even better. The same reports claim that the brand is working on the 1.4-nm processor. This is labeled internally as “A14,” not the A14 chip in the iPhone 12. The alleged A14 likely refers to the “1.4” process node.

So, should you wait longer? If you want a processor that can do much more in this age, you should. With AI features going rampant like wildfire, there’s no doubt that Apple would want to take advantage of what 2-nm and 1.4-nm can do on an iPhone.

Will you get an iPhone 16 Pro or wait for the iPhone 17 Pro?
