The AGM Glory G1S is a massive chonk boi for all rugged phone enthusiasts out there! Water and splash-proof plus night vision, thermal scanner and a dedicated laser: perfect for all adventurers out there or you’re the kind of person who wants to be different from anyone else. Curious? Read on.
If you’re looking for a smartphone that’s both durable and long-lasting, the AGM Glory G1S will definitely bring glory for your rugged needs. Sporting a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, it’s no gaming phone but is perfect for the working man types, and for someone who will buy it for its novelty quality.
For starters, it has 8GB of RAM and a 128GB internal memory and it’s available only in Black and Orange. The Glory G1S has a 48MP camera that’s perfectly fine for a smartphone but we believe here in Unbox Diaries that the quality lags behind compared to newer phones. According to AGM’s website, its IP68/IP69K/MIL-STD-810H grade makes this phone shockproof up to 1.5 meters, blocking up to 99% of dust, and can survive when submerged in 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. Now talk about that submerging time! You can run errands and even walk your dog for a moment and your phone will still be alive when you get back. We even dunked this baby multiple times inside a bucket full of water, threw them around for a while (with heavy drops) and even used it to crush a garlic!
Its external memory can be extended up to 512GB— that’s a lot of storage to put your pet pictures in! (Your pet, not your other pet, if you know what we’re saying). Its massive 5500mAh Li-Po battery can stay up for days without charging, now you can be hiking on a mountain and still get your stunning mountain videos without plugging in to a power bank.
But the real star of the show here are the Glory G1S’s special camera features. No, it didn’t have an iPhone-esque lens or partnership with either Leica or Zeiss but here’s one thing that this phone can proudly show off without hesitation (it has an headphone jack but that isn’t the special feature so read on): it has a fully functional thermal night vision camera and infrared/thermal scanner features. The night vision camera gives you the power of Daredevil (only smoother) as you can see in the dark clearly and spot any person, animal, or an approaching zombie excited to bite you in the arm. The thermal scanner on the other side can detect heat on any living and non-living objects (e.g. wirings on your drywall, your laptop) and it even displays its actual temperature! Now you can scan your friends and family for COVID-19 in style. Its camera though is standard and is passable, and you can shoot and film underwater by pressing its dedicated button on the left side of the phone.
But wait, the Glory G1S has another one trick up its sleeve! Wait for it, wait for it… It has a built-in laser! Perfect for pointing things without your reach, playing with your cat or commence an airstrike (obligatory Call of Duty reference inserted) whenever you wish. Just don’t annoy people by pointing the laser at their eyes, so be very careful! Here’s a pro tip: if you live through the 90’s and you still remember those laser toys that everyone sells outside elementary schools? Find those caps and marvel at those things reshaping your laser into multiple shapes and images.
Gaming is okay, but not advisable for long durations of use and with heavy games such as Genshin Impact or Asphalt 9 because it can put a lot of strain to this device.
But what about the price? It’s around $699 or around Php39,407.00. Pretty pricey, but you’re paying for its durability features and special options.
In summary, if you’re the type of person who’s adventurous and on-the-go, or if you have slippery hands, the AGM Glory G1S is an ideal phone for you because its waterproof capabilities and extra features such the thermal and night vision camera and its dedicated laser can drastically help you in times of need when you’re outdoors or all alone in an unfamiliar area and can give you an advantage to move freely into the dark without the need for a bright light. Will we recommend it? If you need all those features we mentioned and are inclined to own a rugged-type phone, you and the Glory G1S are a match made in heaven…or in infrared heaven. That one.
