AI Meets Music: YouTube Music’s ‘Ask Music’ Feature now on iPhone

YouTube Music is stepping up its AI game with “Ask Music,” a smart radio station generator that’s now rolling out to iPhone and iPad users. After launching on Android last year, this feature is finally making its way to Apple devices, giving users a new way to create personalized playlists with just a few words or voice prompts.

How ‘Ask Music’ works

Sitting right at the top of the YouTube Music home tab, “Ask for music” presents a set of 10 suggested prompts to help kickstart your playlist. But here’s the cool part—you’re not limited to those. You can type or speak any prompt you want, whether it’s “chill beats for studying,” “hype gym anthems,” or even something oddly specific like “lo-fi tracks with nostalgic vibes.” The AI then curates a radio station based on your request.

Personalized playlists on demand

Once you enter a prompt, YouTube Music whips up a station and shows you the first three songs to give you a taste of what’s in store. The best part? You can save these AI-generated stations to your library and fine-tune them to match your preferences.

Who can use it?

Right now, “Ask Music” is only available to YouTube Music and Music Premium subscribers. The feature initially rolled out in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, but Google plans to expand it to more regions soon.

This move makes YouTube Music an even stronger contender in the music streaming space, offering AI-powered customization that feels effortless. With “Ask Music,” finding the perfect soundtrack for any moment is as simple as asking for it.
