Apple users can now browse Apple Maps on Mac, iPad, and Windows PC.
Finally! After years of staying on mobile, the Apple Maps has come full circle and is now running on web browsers in beta phase.
As of writing, users of Apple Maps web version can navigate walking and driving directions, find places, and obtain information, such as photos, hours, and ratings. They can also take actions like order food and browse curated Guides to discover things, including places where to eat and shop.
Numerous features are set for release as well, including Look Around. Users just have to wait for them to arrive in the coming months.
Right now, the Apple Maps on the web is available in English and works with Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad, and Chrome and Edge on Windows PC. It’s expected to be compatible with other Chromium-based browsers for Windows. Support for browsers, platforms, and more languages are in the works.
We tested it on the Brave Browser for PC and it actually works. There are three main options at each side. On the right, you can find the Map Type where you can choose between Standard, Hybrid, and Satellite. Below that is the Current Location which needs you to approve location access on your browser. The last one is the Compass and tapping and holding it rotates the map.
At the left are Search, Guides, and Directions. Search comes with categories for places most people will want to find, such as Banks, Convenience, Hotels, Pharmacies, and Restaurants. Guides feature curated contents for cities and other travel essentials, and it currently covers Global, North America, Europe, and Australia.
