Apple‘s upcoming A20 Pro chip could deliver a major performance and efficiency boost, with a new leak claiming 18% faster performance and 30% better power efficiency than the A19 Pro.
The figures come from Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, citing supply chain sources. Apple is expected to introduce the chip with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra next month.
The A20 Pro will reportedly be Apple’s first 2nm chip, manufactured by TSMC.
It is also rumored to use Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging.
Compared with the A19 Pro, the leaked improvements are:
- 18% faster performance
- 30% better power efficiency
The exact gains across the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine could differ. Apple typically provides separate performance figures for each component when it announces a new chip.
The reported efficiency improvement could be just as important as the performance boost.
Higher efficiency could help the iPhone 18 Pro deliver longer battery life while maintaining higher performance. The A20 Pro will also work alongside iOS 27, which is expected to bring its own speed and performance improvements.
The A20 Pro is expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and rumored foldable iPhone Ultra.
Apple is expected to unveil these devices at its September event.
For now, the 18% performance gain and 30% efficiency improvement remain unconfirmed. Apple has yet to reveal the A20 Pro or provide official performance figures.
If accurate, however, the A20 Pro could make Apple’s next Pro iPhones faster while using less power.
