Apple could be working on its biggest iPhone ever. A new leak claims the company is testing a 6.96-inch display, which would likely be marketed as a 7-inch screen if it makes it to the final product.
According to Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is testing the larger display for its 20th anniversary iPhone, expected to launch in 2027. The screen is said to have the same aspect ratio as the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, although it’s still unclear if Apple will use it in the rumored iPhone 20 Pro Max.
The report matches an earlier Bloomberg claim that Apple is developing two versions of its anniversary iPhone. Previous rumors also suggest the device could feature an edge-to-edge display with curved glass on all sides, giving it an almost bezel-free look.
Meanwhile, this year’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are still expected to keep the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays as the current generation. If the latest rumor is true, the jump to a nearly 7-inch screen will likely be saved for the anniversary model.
Apple last increased the size of its Pro iPhones with the iPhone 16 Pro series in 2024, when the displays grew to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches thanks to slimmer bezels and slightly larger bodies.
