Apple’s Siri is in a bit of a jam

It looks like the Apple’s AI claim to fame isn’t all it’s hyped up to be.

Off to a bad start…

It’s already bad enough that the iPhone 16, which was heavily marketed with AI in mind, didn’t possess the features when it first shipped to customers. Instead, users had to wait for a few more weeks till iOS 18.1 was released, and even then the execution was spotty.

The delayed rollout and spotty experience definitely left a sour taste in users’ mouths, as indicative of Apple Intelligence’s failure to gain widespread adoption.

Apple’s AI just can’t catch a break

Now, there’s even more bad news on the horizon as reports of Apple’s push to revamp Siri hit a snag in development, further delaying its potential until iOS 20. Most of these setbacks stem from foundational issues within Apple’s AI systems.

While many of Apple’s competitors in the AI space are thriving, case in point, Amazon, which is set to launch their Alexa+ voice assistant, which will incorporate advanced generative AI features. This enables Alexa+ to handle more complex tasks while offering a more natural experience.

What this means for Apple?

This development might be a make-or-break situation for Apple. As more and more phone manufacturers integrate AI large language models such as DeepSeek’s R1 and Google’s Gemini Nano to enrich user experiences, Apple’s inability to ride the wave might be integral to keeping the company’s competitive edge.
