A Premium Experience Hidden in Plain Sight
At first glance, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra’s box looks very inconspicuous. It doesn’t scream premium the way smartphone packaging does. But that’s until you open the initial packaging.
Nestled inside is a thin black box that contains the laptop itself and a LAN to USB Type-C adapter. You’ll find all the other necessities like the power brick, quick start guide, and warranty information underneath.
Built Like a Stealth Bomber
It’s slick, it’s slim, and you can get it in any color as long as it’s black (just kidding, it also comes in Morn Grey). It reminds me of a B-2 Stealth Bomber the way it looks and operates, and honestly, it’s not far off. Why?
Because one, it’s made out of CNC-machined blocks of aerospace grade AZ31B magnesium alloy, making it light, resistant to corrosion, and still be durable for everyday abuse. And two, underneath that thin and light build is power that could easily match laptops double its size.
Plane analogies aside, it’s actually impressive how ASUS managed to fit all that hardware in a package that measures just 10.9mm and weighs only 0.99 kg (1.1 kg if you opt for the Tandem OLED version).
For executives and business leaders, portability isn’t just about convenience. It’s about staying productive wherever opportunities arise. Whether that’s reviewing contracts or preparing for an investor presentation, the ExpertBook Ultra is built to keep up with the demanding schedule that comes with the territory without weighing you down.
And don’t let that thinness fool you, this thing is built like a B-2 bomber, well… maybe not. But it is pretty durable. Aside from being built with an aerospace grade alloy, ASUS also treated the whole chassis using a process called Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation and then coated it with a 9H Nano Ceramic technology.
It’s a lot of jargon, I know, but the only thing you need to know is that all of these processes combined makes the whole chassis highly scratch resistant. In fact, ASUS Business swears that this is the most scratch resistant metal laptop they’ve made so far.
Plus, because it’s an ExpertBook laptop, the Ultra went through ASUS’ 157 procedure Superior Durability test on top of the 24 testing procedures in 11 categories under the US military grade MIL-STD-810H standards.
But if you’re really that worried about breaking the ExpertBook Ultra, ASUS also includes a 3-year business warranty, extendable up to 5 years to soothe all your fears.
“But what about the ports? If it’s so thin, it’s probably gonna have just two USB Type-C ports and force us to use dongles” is what I would usually say in a package this thin but lo and behold, ASUS Business figured out a way to fit full I/O ports.

Moving on to the keyboard and touchpad, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra comes with a large 110cm2 glass haptic 6-sensor touchpad that wastes no top and bottom space. While the keyboard is a 1.5mm travel backlit splash resistant keyboard coated with a special UV that protects it from smudges, stains, and scratches.
A Display Worth Looking At
For many, the top 3 most important things that people consider when buying a laptop is the build, the performance, and the display. After all, what good is a great build and fantastic performance if the display can’t play on the same level.
ASUS already ticked the build part, how about the display? The ASUS ExpertBook comes in two options: Polymer OLED and 3K Tandem OLED. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Of course, the primary reason for choosing the POLED over the Tandem OLED is cost. POLEDs are traditionally cheaper to produce but that comes at the cost of brightness. In this case, the POLED variant can only go up to 450 nits while the Tandem OLED can go as high as 600 nits.
And that’s just the display’s brightness. In HDR, the Tandem OLED one can go as high as 1400 nits while the POLED only goes up 1000 nits. It’s also more power efficient, less prone to burn-in, and has a higher color contrast.
But regardless of which one you choose, both displays will have a 100% DCI-P3 coverage, a Delta-E accuracy of 1, and 3K resolution, all protected with a Corning Gorilla Matte display designed with Gorilla Glass Victus.
Why matte, you ask? Well, the matte surface gives it a paper-like touch and feel, reduces sparkle and glare, and it gives off 5x better contrast. Plus, if you’re like me that does all my work in a laptop, the matte surface reduces eye strain because it doesn’t blind you with glare.
Ultra by Name, Ultra by Nature
In the smartphone market, the term ‘Ultra’ has been overused to the point where it has lost its meaning. Well, in the PC world, that word isn’t used lightly. If it has ‘Ultra’ in the name, it probably is ultra in every sense of the word. The ASUS ExpertBook Ultra is no exception.
You could kit the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra with up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H coupled with an Arc B390 GPU plus up to 64GB of 9600MT/s LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe PCIe Gen 5 SSD. Imagine that… 64GB of RAM… In this economy??
But ours came with the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H with the same GPU, plus 32GB of 8533 MT/s LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SanDisk NVMe PCIe Gen 5 SSD.
Just to show you how powerful the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H is, we ran our own testing using PassMark, 3DMark Time Spy, Cinebench R23, and CrystalDiskMark for the 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD, and here are the results:
- PassMark Performance: 10,382.3 (95th Percentile)
- Cinebench R23: 2,057 pts in Single-Core | 16,434 pts in Multi-Core
- 3DMark Time Spy: 7,548
- CrystalDiskMark: 11,252.34 MB/s Read | 10,383.36 MB/s Write
We even ran Tomb Raider GOTY edition just to see how it performs in gaming. With the settings cranked to Ultra, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra managed to squeeze an average of 50.2 fps.
Mind you, we ran these tests on the default Balanced mode and not the Performance mode like what ASUS did and it still managed to almost equal their numbers.
The ExpertBook Ultra was able to achieve this because of what ASUS calls the ExpertCool Pro which takes advantage of the three air outlets to dissipate heat using the two fans on either side of the board. The system can dissipate heat up to 50W, giving it more leeway to perform without the risk of thermal throttling.
And it doesn’t make the fans noisy either. That’s because it uses a Fluid Dynamic Bearing to lower noise and extend its lifespan. At its peak, the dual fans only produce about 42db which is practically noise-less.
All-Day Power and Room-Filling Sound
What is loud is the six-speaker Dolby Atmos system with dual-magnetic woofers and two dedicated tweeters. This is more than enough for those online meetings, but where you’ll feel the most difference is when you’re at home, tucked in for the night, binge-watching your favorite series.
Speaking of online meetings, aside from having a high-quality speaker system, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra also boasts AI noise-cancelling which comes in two modes: Single speaker mode and Multi-presenter mode.
All that is powered with a high density 2S2P 70Whr battery pack that ASUS says can last up to 26 hrs in a single charge. Charging from 0 to 100% can take about an hour, and if you’re ever in a situation where you forgot to bring your charger or don’t have access to an outlet, the ASUS ExpertBook Ultra can be charged using a power bank that has a 5V to 20V support.
Putting AI to Work
In the business world, AI is all the rage. It makes business processes more efficient because it doesn’t make as many mistakes as we do, which is why ASUS decided to pack the ExpertBook Ultra with smart and useful AI that makes your life much easier.
Aside from being a Copilot+ PC which you can conveniently toggle from the keyboard, ASUS also includes the MyExpert, an all-in-one hub for all things AI in the ExpertBook Ultra. You can easily access it through the ExpertPanel found in the taskbar.
You can access anything from the Knowledge Hub, AI Meeting Minutes, AI Translated Subtitles to the more essential things like the mic, screen recorder, ExpertLumi, and a lot more.
Additionally, the ASUS MyExpert app houses an AI chat assistant which you can ask for directions on system settings and apps, Knowledge Hub which as the name suggests, turns your documents and images to a working information hub. Protection From Every Angle
Security is also one of ASUS’ main priorities. As we know, security is paramount to the business world. It can mean the difference between a new business deal or a failed opportunity. ASUS takes care of that with the ExpertGuardian.
ASUS ExpertGuardian’s protection ranges from software to hardware, all of which are intended to give you the best possible protection. These include a Dual BIOS ROM, TPM 2.0, Intel vPro Platform, Chassis Intrusion, NIST SP 800-193 compliance and up to 5 years security updates on the software side.
