ASUS unfolds the incredible with the groundbreaking Zenbook 17 Fold OLED

ASUS has achieved many milestones but this time, it’s for the world’s very first 17.3″ Foldable OLED

ASUS unveiled its award-winning Zenbook 17 Fold OLED during its official launch in New World Makati Hotel last November 23rd. It is notable for the title of “the world’s first 17.3″-inch foldable OLED laptop that can fold and can be used in six different modes, which is something that came from a sci-fi movie.

Packed with the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics and equipped with 16GB of RAM, and 1TB PCIe SSD— you can never go wrong with this, and it shows since it bagged several awards such as the Red Dot Design Awards, and the coveted iF Design, and the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is featured as one of the 2022’s Best Inventions via TIME Magazine.

The specs

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED offers two sizes of OLED display in either 17.3 inch or 12.5 inch ( 1080 x 1920). You can choose with multiple modes to suit your needs such as the desktop mode (our favorite), laptop (with the conventional keyboard attachment), laptop (with the touchscreen mode enabled as substitute for the conventional keyboard), tablet mode, reading mode, and extended mode.

Zenbook 17 Fold OLED alá modes

In desktop mode, yes you’ve read it right— the device acts as a huge monitor that you can prop anywhere because of the attached faux-leather kickstand that is built-in. How will you use it? Ideally, with the included ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad that can be attached seamlessly to experience the best Zenbook workflow anywhere, anytime.

For the conventional laptop mode, the keyboard attaches to the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED via magnetic docking.

However, in virtual keyboard laptop mode, it suddenly flips on its head by using the touchscreen version for a futuristic and seamless typing experience.

As for the tablet mode, it is recommended for multitasking, or unleashing your full creativity with such large screen real estate perfect for sketching, drawing, music mixing and many more.
Theoretically, you can share with someone a section of your screen to do two (or more) separate things at once!
If you are an avid reader, or a voracious one (whatever floats your boat) it flips like a book via the reader mode and is perfect for reading and studying anytime.
In extended mode, you can detach the keyboard and lay it flat on a surface to create an ‘extended’ mode and it can be hooked via an external monitor via one of the four USB Type-C Thunderbolt ports.
In each of those modes we’ve mentioned, the easy-to-use window management tools such as the Mode Switcher in the ScreenXpert3 application to allow these multiple configurations, because it is tested for around 30,000 open/close cycles, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is definitely durable as it also has a MIL-STD 810G rating meaning, it can survive most rugged conditions.
