A new challenger is approaching…
No longer in the sidelines
Just days after discussing the Vivo X Fold 5 and its potential to challenge top foldable makers like Samsung, OnePlus, and OPPO, HONOR is now throwing its hat into the ring with its upcoming Magic V5.

HONOR going all out
Recently appearing on the popular benchmark site Geekbench, the Magic V5 looks poised to outshine the Vivo X Fold 5 for the top spot in the foldable segment. The listing suggests a foldable that doesn’t just fold, but truly performs at the highest level.
The Geekbench results showcased an impressive single-core score of 2976 and a multi-core score of 8892. This listing also provides crucial insights into the hardware driving these remarkable numbers.

Expect only the best
Under the hood, the Magic V5 will be powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, coupled with a generous 16GB of RAM. If there’s any truth to this listing, which we believe there is, it will indeed one-up the Vivo X Fold 5 in terms of sheer raw power, as the X Fold 5 is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
However, raw power is only one part of the equation. It will be interesting to see how the two devices perform in real-world scenarios, especially when it comes to software optimization. The X Fold 5 could potentially pull off an upsetting win if its software implementation is exceptionally well-tuned.
A bright future ahead
Speaking of software, the Magic V5’s listing indicates that it will launch with Android 15 out of the box. It remains to be seen if HONOR truly commits to its “Alpha plan,” which reportedly promises up to six years of software support for current and future devices.
While not directly mentioned in the Geekbench listing, the Magic V5 is widely rumored to feature a 6.45-inch OLED cover display and a larger 8-inch unfolded screen. Both displays are expected to support a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring a premium visual experience.
Upping the game in every aspect
Continuing on with the theme of one-upping the vivo X Fold 5, industry insiders claims that the Magic V5’s battery will one-up the X Fold 5 by 100 mAh. Both will probably use Silicon Carbon (Si/C) technology to squeeze more battery life in the thin and light design.
This year’s battle for the best foldable looks to be an exciting one, it’ll be interesting to see which one captures the top spot.
