Harassers and stalkers will see the posts of their “favorites” on X with the upcoming changes to the blocking feature.
Blocking someone’s account on social media prevents them from messaging you, viewing your profile, or seeing your posts. It’s the red button to stop annoyance and harassment.
But on X (formerly Twitter), blocking will no longer block someone out completely. If you’re confused, Elon Musk, owner of X, provided an explanation about future changes.
Users you’ve blocked on X are still unable to engage with you but your posts will be visible to them like any other user on the platform. The changes remain unclear because they are other functions on X, such as reposting and quoting. Could a blocked user do them on your posts?
If that is weird to you, blocking someone on X doesn’t really stop them from engaging with you or seeing your posts. They can simply do so via Incognito on a browser or logging in with a different account.
Unfortunately, those who have been using the feature to stop harassers and stalkers must find another way to keep their distance.
