New and innovative, the Camera Control is likely the only saving grace of the iPhone 16 Series.
Accessing the camera in an instant is always an issue on smartphones. The most common quick way to do it is tapping the camera icon on the lock screen. But even that is considered a hassle in some scenarios.
For the first time on an iPhone, a breakthrough from software and hardware integration now lets users of the iPhone 16 Series take shots and do more with the Camera Control button. This is the additional physical “key” on this series.
Besides launching the camera app in a flash, the Camera Control also sports a tactile switch so you can tweak things before taking a shot. Here are some adjustable things using Camera Control:
- Zoom
- Exposure
- Depth of field
- Two-step shutter: Coming in a later update.
- Visual Intelligence: Capture an image to find relevant info.
Apple isn’t limiting the Camera Control to the native camera app. The company plans to expand its support to third-party apps, including Snapchat.
But how durable is the Camera Control? First things first, it isn’t a real button but a touch-capacitive area capable of detecting pressure. It houses pressure-sensitive sensors and haptic motors to recognize movements of your finger.
It has Sapphire Glass for reinforcement and basically uses the same tech as the Macbook Force Touch touchpads. You can expect it to last with proper use.
Do you agree that Camera Control is the most promising feature of the iPhone 16 Series?
