Transsion leads the top 5 brands in Q2 2024, followed by Samsung, vivo, Xiaomi, and realme.
The latest report from Canalys unveiled the leading brands of smartphone markets in Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, the parent company of Infinix, itel, and TECNO, Transsion, is leading the pack.
Transsion has a share of 31% in the country for the second quarter of 2024. It’s followed by Samsung at 15%, vivo at 14%, Xiaomi at 12%, and realme at 11%.
“Southeast Asia is increasingly recognized as a key market for smartphone vendors looking to expand their global footprint,” said Canalys Analyst Sheng Win Chow.
In other SEA markets, some brands dominated more than one country. Xiaomi leads the top five in Indonesia and Malaysia at 20% and 18%, respectively. OPPO, on the other hand, showed a commanding lead in Thailand and Vietnam at 20% and 27%, respectively. This is also the first time OPPO has surpassed Samsung (21%) in Vietnam.
Both Transsion and Xiaomi used aggressive pricing in SEA, recognizing the price sensitivity of consumers. OPPO empowered its presence in the mid- and high-end markets with OPPO A3 Pro and OPPO Reno12.
vivo sustained its branding with the dual introduction of the vivo Y03 for the low-end market and the V Series for the higher markets. This created a healthy balance in its offerings.
