Could this be the end of vivo in Germany?

After the court’s decision in a patent case of Nokia against vivo, Nokia might have ended vivo endeavors in Germany.

What’s the lawsuit about?

Nokia owns a special patent that is important for 4G technology. They are suing vivo because they believe vivo is using their patent without permission. With Nokia winning the case, vivo may no longer be able to sell its products in Germany.

Nokia has already won similar cases against two other companies, Oppo and OnePlus, which led to those companies being banned from selling their products in Germany. Talk about déjà vu!

But wait, there’s more! vivo is not going down without a fight. They issued a statement saying they’re negotiating a renewal of the patent licensing agreement with Nokia but are ready to suspend sales and marketing of affected products if ordered by the court. They’re even prepared to appeal the decision and have pledged their loyalty to the German market. That’s some serious commitment right there!

However, if the appeal fails and vivo can’t reach an agreement with Nokia, it could mean curtains for the company’s entire presence in the EU. Yikes! The statement also called out Nokia for not offering fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms in the negotiations. Drama, drama, drama!

So, for now, you can still get your hands on vivo products in Germany through official channels and third-party resellers. But who knows what the future holds? Stay tuned folks, because this tech tiff is far from over!
