But here’s good news! The Philippine Statistics Authority and Department of Information and Communications Technology just launched the digital national ID. You can now visit the official website to register.
Before you do that, we’ll give you some idea on what to expect early into this launch. The registration website will present you with a consent to let you know that the PSA will use your demographic details, such as your full name and date of birth.
The website will also gather other things, including facial image, which is required to confirm your identity. That same image will be used in retrieving your digital national ID. This suggests that the digital version acts like a physical ID.
When you proceed, you must enter the correct information to the following entries like first, middle, and last names, date of birth, and suffix. There’s a checkbox for those who don’t have a middle name.
Next, the website will ask for your facial image. So, your device should have access to a camera. A verifying process will take place after your image is captured.
At the moment, the registration website has some issues. You can encounter an unresponsive page after the initial part and even server errors during facial image verifying.
These technical difficulties are likely caused by user traffic. So, bear with it and hopefully, the PSA and DICT can polish the site soon.
