MediaTek is reportedly preparing its next flagship lineup with the Dimensity 9600 series, and early leaks suggest a major leap in mobile performance that could push smartphone chips closer to desktop-level computing.
According to recent reports, the lineup may include the Dimensity 9600 and Dimensity 9600 Pro, both expected to launch later this year on an advanced 2nm-class process.
Dual ultra-core design and 5GHz peak clocks
Fresh details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station indicate that the Dimensity 9600 series could introduce a dual ultra-core CPU architecture, marking a significant shift from traditional mobile CPU layouts.
The chipset is rumored to feature a 2+3+3 core configuration, with two ultra-large cores handling peak performance workloads. Most notably, the CPU is said to reach clock speeds close to 5GHz, a figure typically associated with high-end desktop processors rather than mobile silicon.
