Disabling thermal throttling on One UI 7 may let Samsung Galaxy users enjoy games better.
One UI 7 is in the works to bring new features to eligible Samsung Galaxy devices. But a new leak shows an experimental option: the ability to enable/disable thermal throttling. This is something gamers may want to use.
On X, chunvn8888 shared that the Developer Options on One UI 7 featured the said tweak and toggling it will require the device to restart. If you don’t know what it’s about, thermal throttling is a safeguard that prevents overheating.
When your smartphone’s temperature rises at a specific threshold, the safeguard is triggered to avoid damage from extreme heat. This is the reason why benchmarking can sometimes yield low numbers from flagship processors. It’s also why your device lags and stutters during heavy load.
Keep in mind that One UI 7 is in development and the leaked feature may not even reach the final version. It’s reasonable considering the possible risks of extreme heat on a device.
Back in One UI 6, Samsung also introduced a similar option but it needed access to the Samsung Device Health Manager Service. It was later removed and some suggested hesitation in allowing users to bypass thermal safeguards.
Do you think the toggle should be a standard on Galaxy devices?
