Apple is expected to make a major change to its iPhone lineup this year with the introduction of the iPhone 17 Air. Rumors suggest this new model will replace the “Plus” and focus on a single, defining characteristic: an ultra-thin design. This phone aims to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date.
Design and Display

The most notable feature of the iPhone 17 Air is its rumored profile, said to be as thin as 5.5mm. To achieve this, Apple is reportedly using a hybrid titanium-aluminum frame, making the device noticeably lighter.
The phone is expected to have a 6.6-inch display, a size that fits between the standard and Pro Max models. For the first time on a non-Pro model, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a 120Hz ProMotion display. This upgrade will bring smoother scrolling and a more responsive feel.
Performance and Battery
The iPhone 17 Air will likely be powered by an A19 chip, or a version of the A19 Pro with one less GPU core. It is also rumored to have 12GB of RAM, a significant upgrade.
Due to its thin design, the phone is expected to have a smaller battery. Leaks suggest a 2,800mAh capacity, which may result in shorter battery life compared to other iPhone 17 models.
Camera and Connectivity
In a move to simplify the device and accommodate the thin chassis, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a single 48-megapixel Wide rear camera. The front-facing camera, however, is expected to get a major upgrade to 24-megapixels.
The phone will likely include an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip and a C1 modem. The starting price is rumored to be around $899, which converts to approximately ₱51,331, positioning it as a premium option below the Pro models.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be ultra-thin. Is a super-thin design worth a smaller battery and a single rear camera?
