Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have been a hot topic in the mobile world, and a new contender is already making waves long before its official debut. The Exynos 1680, widely believed to be the heart of the upcoming Galaxy A57, has just made an appearance on Geekbench, and the results are turning heads.

While the full picture remains under wraps, the leaked benchmarks hint at a substantial leap in performance, particularly on the graphics front. The Exynos 1680, identified by its model number “S5E8865,” boasts a rumored Xclipse 550 GPU. This is where things get really exciting. This GPU is rumored to be based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture, which is the same foundation as the one used in the top-tier Exynos 2500 chipset.

In its Geekbench 6 OpenCL test, the new chip achieved a score of 6,330. While benchmark numbers don’t tell the whole story, this is a very promising start, suggesting a major boost in graphical processing power.

What Does This Mean for the Galaxy A57?

The Galaxy A series is a pillar of Samsung’s lineup, and the Exynos 1680’s arrival could signal a new era of performance for the mid-range segment. Previous models like the Exynos 1580 showed strong performance, but the jump to a new-generation GPU architecture could mean an even better gaming experience and more capable on-device AI features.

With the Galaxy A57 not expected until sometime in 2026, Samsung has plenty of time to fine-tune the hardware and software. If the company can deliver on the promise of this RDNA 3.5-based GPU, the Exynos 1680 could give its rivals—specifically chips from MediaTek and Qualcomm—a serious run for their money.

So, while we’ll have to wait a little longer for the full specs, these early benchmarks are a tantalizing preview of what’s to come. It seems Samsung is serious about bringing flagship-level technology to its more affordable phones, and the Exynos 1680 might just be the chip to redefine the mid-range market.

With a Geekbench score of 6,330, do you think the Exynos 1680 will be competitive against its rivals?
