Samsung‘s next flagship chipset is reportedly outperforming Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in internal testing, covering CPU, GPU, AI performance, and power efficiency.
The results come from anonymous industry insiders, so they remain unofficial. Still, the reported numbers put the Exynos 2700 in serious competition with Qualcomm’s top mobile chip.
Exynos 2700 vs Snapdragon
According to the reported tests:
- CPU: 9.5% faster than Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and 19% faster than the non-Pro version in Geekbench 6.5 multi-core
- GPU: 5% faster than the Elite Gen 6 Pro
- GPU at 2.5W: 22% faster than the Elite Pro and 24% faster than the regular Elite
- AI: 18% faster when running Llama 3.1 8B
- Power efficiency: 161mA current draw versus 185mA for the Elite Pro in simulated smartphone use
The GPU benchmark used was not identified, so the GPU figures cannot yet be directly compared with public benchmark results.
The power results are particularly interesting. In simulated smartphone usage, the Exynos 2700 reportedly consumed 161mA, compared with 185mA for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
Samsung also tested the GPU under a 2.5W power limit, where the Exynos reportedly maintained a lead of 22% over the Elite Pro and 24% over the regular Elite.
The Exynos 2700 is reportedly manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s SF2P process, the company’s second-generation 2nm Gate-All-Around technology.
Samsung has been positioning its 2nm process as a major part of its next-generation foundry strategy. A strong Exynos chip would also give Samsung Foundry a flagship mobile processor to demonstrate its manufacturing capabilities.
There is another factor behind Samsung’s push for Exynos.
Samsung’s System LSI division designs Exynos chips, while its MX division handles Galaxy smartphones. MX can purchase Samsung’s own Exynos chips at a lower cost than comparable flagship Snapdragon processors.
Qualcomm has also confirmed that its next generation will have two premium Elite platforms, currently referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. These are separate from the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 6.
A stronger Exynos 2700 gives Samsung more flexibility when choosing chips for its flagship phones.
The reported results point toward Exynos-powered Galaxy S27 models for Korea, Europe and potentially other markets. Samsung is also reportedly planning five new foldable phones next year, although it remains unknown which models will use the Exynos 2700.
For now, Samsung has not confirmed the benchmark results or the final Galaxy S27 chipset lineup.
The Exynos 2700 is still unannounced, so these figures need independent testing before they can be treated as final performance numbers. But based on the reported internal results, Samsung is giving Qualcomm’s next flagship Snapdragon chips a serious fight.
