Premium, Powerful, and Long-Lasting: Our First Look at the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to review the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro, the middle child of HUAWEI’s stable of smartwatches. Now HUAWEI is back again, this time aiming to dominate the premium flagship segment with the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 and GT 6 Pro.

If the WATCH FIT 4 Series’ goal was to offer the complete smartwatch experience without the hefty price tag, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series’ goal is to offer a more traditional yet refined version of that experience.

It’s something you’d have to see to believe, but if you’re still on the fence about it, follow along in our journey—you might just change your mind.

Unboxing Experience

Stepping into the world of HUAWEI’s latest wearables, we’re immediately struck by the clear differentiation between the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Pro and its counterpart, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6. HUAWEI has masterfully used packaging to telegraph each watch’s distinct persona.

Two product boxes on a wooden table against an orange background. The box on the left is black for the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro, and the box on the right is white for the Huawei Watch GT 6.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Pro arrives in a commanding black box, a clear signal of its more robust—perhaps even more masculine or technologically advanced—identity. The box art showcases a sleek silver-bodied watch paired with both a sophisticated metal link strap and a pristine white or light-colored alternative. This instantly conveys a sense of rugged elegance and serious tech.

In contrast, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 comes in a crisp white box. This lighter aesthetic suggests a more lifestyle-oriented, fashion-forward device. The box features an image of the silver HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 with a delicate light pink or lavender strap, hinting at broader appeal and more varied styling options.

Both boxes share a clean design and prominently display the HUAWEI TRUSENSE branding, but their contrasting color schemes create a powerful visual distinction. Pulling the watches from their premium interiors—the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Pro with its substantial metal bracelet, and the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 with its versatile leather strap (shown here with a charming panda watch face)—reinforces this impression. It’s clear that HUAWEI isn’t just offering two smartwatches, but two carefully curated experiences, each telling its own story from the very first glance at the packaging.

Design

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 comes in 41mm and 46mm, while the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Pro only comes in 46mm. Unlike the WATCH FIT Series’ square design, the GT Series has always prided itself on being more subtle yet premium.

Speaking of quality, HUAWEI used only the finest materials for the WATCH GT 6 Series. The GT 6 Pro features aerospace-grade titanium alloy, sapphire glass, and nanocrystal ceramics, the kind you’d normally find in luxury timepieces.

On the other hand, the base HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 keeps things refined with stainless steel and pivoting loop lugs that provide a more comfortable fit, especially for slimmer wrists.

And it’s not just about looks. Both models come with triple-protection durability—making them wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and reinforced with a full-body nano-film coating.

That’s on top of the IP69 and 5ATM water resistance, meaning the WATCH GT 6 Series can go toe-to-toe with pool laps, sweaty runs, or even sudden downpours. And if you’re looking to go deeper (literally), the WATCH GT 6 Pro offers up to 40 meters of freediving.

Display

Whether you’re on a run, cycling, or exploring the depths of the ocean, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series remains crisp and readable, all thanks to its 1.47-inch AMOLED display that delivers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

HUAWEI was able to bump the screen size a bit on the WATCH GT 6 Pro by trimming the bezels by 10%, giving users a 5.5% larger screen area without adding extra bulk. It also features a three-dimensional time scale bezel, which adds depth and a more premium, classic-watch aesthetic.

For everyday use, this means better readability, sharper visuals, and a screen that feels more immersive, whether you’re running through stats or just glancing at the time.

Sports Features

Where the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series really shines is in sports tracking. Leading the charge is HUAWEI’s Sunflower Positioning System 2.0, which fuses dual-band six-satellite signals with barometer readings and adaptive algorithms.

What does that translate to? Whether you’re running beneath the towering skyscrapers of BGC or Makati, or climbing the many mountains of the Philippines, your route record stays clean and true—unlike other smartwatches that look wonky when you review the records.

Runners will appreciate the Running Form Analysis that tracks biomechanics like ground contact time and vertical oscillation, helping avoid injuries and improve efficiency. The Pro variant even introduces altitude trend tracking and altitude sickness alerts for trail runners.

Cyclists, on the other hand, get a real treat. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 debuts Cycling Virtual Power, the industry’s first smartwatch-based power output tool, removing the need for pricey bike computers and external meters.

Add FTP data, team-up mode, auto ride detection, and Fall Detection 2.0 with SOS alerts, and you’ve got a true all-in-one cycling companion.

And let’s not forget the 100+ sports modes—from skiing to golf to freediving up to 40 meters (Pro only). It’s like HUAWEI thought of every athlete and every hobbyist in one go.

Health Features

When exercising, you not only need a smartwatch that pushes you to the limit but also something that reminds you to take it easy, especially when you’re too “in the zone.” The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series does just that.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Pro comes with CE-certified ECG and pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis, giving you clinical-grade insights on heart health straight from your wrist. Both models support sleep tracking with TruSleep technology, monitoring HRV, breathing, and interruptions, while even offering sleep music to help you doze off faster.

The watch also tracks 12 emotional states in real time, refreshing every 10 minutes, offering a more holistic view of your mental well-being. It’s not just numbers—it’s about balance, recovery, and emotional awareness.

HUAWEI even throws in a free 3-month Health+ membership, which adds personalized stay-fit plans, master classes, and curated relaxation music to complete the experience.

Smart Features & Convenience

Smart features often make or break a smartwatch, and HUAWEI made sure the WATCH GT 6 Series doesn’t miss a beat. With 64GB of storage, you can load up thousands of songs or offline maps, making it an ideal offline companion for long rides or hikes. Video watch faces let you upload your own clips, adding a personalized flair.

One of the most practical additions is GCash Watch Pay, now available for iOS, Android, and HUAWEI devices. No need to carry your phone—just scan and go straight from your wrist.

And of course, the killer spec: up to 21 days of battery life (14 on the 41mm model). That’s weeks of use without scrambling for a charger—an area where most competitors still fall short.

Initial Thoughts

From our early hands-on, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series feels like a perfect bridge between tradition and technology.

It has the design pedigree to sit proudly alongside classic watches, the sports tracking accuracy to satisfy pro-level runners and cyclists, and the health features to genuinely improve daily well-being. Add in insane battery life and smart perks like GCash payments, and it’s hard not to see this as HUAWEI’s strongest smartwatch yet.

If first impressions are anything to go by, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series is more than a wearable—it’s the most complete fitness, health, and lifestyle smartwatch HUAWEI has made to date.
