Apple iPhone SE 4 leaks.

First look at the iPhone SE 4: The underdog gets a makeover

The sequel to Apple’s entry-level offering has resurfaced, this time in the flesh.

X user and Apple leaker Majin Bu posted a 10-second clip on the platform. The clip, which features the iPhone SE 4, shows the device receiving a substantial overhaul from its predecessor. It features a design reminiscent of the iPhone XR, albeit having squared edges and a larger camera bump.

Out with the old, in with the new

What’s the biggest change? The clip seems to suggest that the iPhone SE 4 dropped the home button in favor of the notched design with Face ID, which is consistent with Apple’s newer design language. This is a significant move for the SE series, which has generally relied on earlier iPhone designs.

Bigger display, bigger camera (bump)

The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to have a larger display, moving away from the tiny 4.7-inch screen of its predecessor. The leaks point to a single-lens rear camera, which might be an improved sensor similar to that found in the iPhone 13 or 14.

Better, faster, stronger

If these rumors are true, the iPhone SE 4 might be the most significant improvement to the SE series. With a new design, a reported larger OLED screen, Dynamic Island, and a bump in specs that would support Apple Intelligence, it could finally provide a current iPhone experience at a lesser cost. If the launch date of the SE 3 is something to go by, we could expect the SE 4 to launch around March or April.

What does this mean for us?

The SE series has always been the entry point for many to enter the Apple ecosystem without selling a kidney. If the rumors are to be believed, the SE 4 might be a game-changer for those wanting a current gen experience at a fraction of the cost. Now, the big question remains—will it be worth the price?
