The Chipset Puzzle
So, the early whispers for the S25 FE pointed to the Exynos 2400e. Makes sense, right? Samsung often uses a slightly adjusted version of a previous flagship chip for their Fan Edition phones. It’s a solid way to offer good performance at a lower cost.
Then things got interesting. Talk surfaced about Samsung potentially tapping MediaTek for their Dimensity 9400 chip. Now that would be a curveball! The Dimensity 9400 is a beast, and putting that in the S25 FE would definitely turn heads and likely mean a serious jump in power. Some folks speculated this could be a backup plan if Samsung hit snags making enough of their own Exynos chips.
But just when we thought we had a couple of possibilities, a recent Geekbench listing popped up. These benchmarks are often our first sneaky peek at a phone’s internals, and this one suggested the S25 FE prototype was running the standard Exynos 2400 – the very same chip in the regular Galaxy S24 and S24+ flagships in many regions. Not the “e” version, the full-fat one!
So, trying to piece it together feels like a game of three-card monte right now. Is it the expected Exynos 2400e, the powerful wildcard Dimensity 9400, or could it actually be the flagship Exynos 2400? Samsung has been known to use different chips in different regions for their phones, so maybe we’ll even see a mix? It keeps things… interesting!
Okay, so why should you care about which specific chip ends up in the S25 FE? Think of it as the phone’s brain. A more powerful chip means apps open faster, games run smoother, and multitasking is a breeze. It can also affect how long your battery lasts and even how good your photos look, thanks to image processing.
