Samsung’s latest flagship lineup is off to an impressive start. A new report says the Galaxy S26 series outsold the previous Galaxy S25 lineup by 29% during its first three weeks on the market, signaling strong consumer demand despite a challenging year for the smartphone industry.

According to findings from Counterpoint Research, 2026 has been a difficult year for smartphone brands due to ongoing shortages affecting RAM and storage supply. Even with those pressures, Samsung’s newest flagship trio appears to be performing well.

Counterpoint notes that Samsung, alongside new launches from Google and Apple, helped revive a sluggish smartphone market. While devices such as the iPhone 17e and Pixel 10a contributed to the recovery, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 family emerged as one of the biggest success stories of the spring season.

The standout model was the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with 71% of buyers choosing Samsung’s top-tier flagship during the lineup’s opening three weeks.

Much of that momentum reportedly came from users who would normally purchase the Plus model. With pricing shifts in the lineup, many buyers may have found it easier to move up to the Ultra instead.

Counterpoint also pointed to aggressive promotions from AT&T and T-Mobile, which likely helped drive more interest toward Samsung’s $1,300 flagship phone.

Another feature mentioned as a draw was Samsung’s Privacy Display, described as cool, though somewhat controversial.

Samsung’s return to a March release schedule may have also contributed to the stronger results.

The report says demand has remained higher year-over-year since launch, supported by strong pre-order numbers. Moving the launch earlier in the year may have helped Samsung capture more attention and momentum.

The broader mobile industry also benefited from the recent launches. According to the report, the market saw 5% growth compared to 2025 in the weeks following the releases of Samsung, Apple, and Google’s latest devices.

At the same time, rising prices across existing hardware may be encouraging consumers to upgrade sooner rather than later. Samsung itself is noted as one of the brands pushing prices upward, which may be motivating buyers to lock in launch deals before future increases.

It remains unclear how the rest of 2026 will unfold for upcoming launches such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Pixel 11. However, if those devices arrive with competitive pricing, they may also see stronger year-over-year growth.

For now, Samsung appears to have secured an early win, with the Galaxy S26 series delivering one of the strongest flagship starts of the year.
