Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Leak: Same 5x Zoom, Better Selfies?

Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Leak: Same 5x Zoom, Better Selfies?.

Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra may keep its predecessor's 5x telephoto camera, but a new leak points to a higher-resolution selfie camera.

According to usually reliable leaker Roland Quandt, the S27 Ultra will feature a 50MP Sony telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. That contradicts an earlier rumor claiming Samsung would switch to a new 4x optical zoom camera with a larger 1/1.9-inch sensor.

Another recent source also claimed Samsung would keep the existing 5x setup, making the latest leak further evidence that the 4x camera rumor may not pan out.

Here’s what the cameras could look like

  • Telephoto: 50MP Sony sensor, 5x optical zoom
  • Ultrawide: 50MP
  • Selfie: 16MP with autofocus

The 50MP ultrawide would match the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the selfie camera would be a notable upgrade from the S26 Ultra’s 12MP front camera.

The S27 Ultra is also expected to feature Samsung’s new M16 OLED panel.

For the chipset, the phone is reportedly set to use the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in at least some markets. There are also rumors that Samsung could offer its Exynos 2700 in certain regions.

Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy S27 Ultra, so the camera specifications remain unconfirmed. For now, the biggest takeaway is simple: don’t expect the rumored 4x telephoto just yet, while the selfie camera could finally get a meaningful upgrade.
