Gaming Performance Compared: Infinix GT 20 Pro vs. POCO X6 Pro 5G

Can the cyberpunk Infinix GT 20 Pro challenge the minimalist POCO X6 Pro 5G in a gaming showdown?

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is the latest member of the brand’s GT family, powered by a newer processor. But before it arrived, POCO launched the X6 Pro 5G at the dawn of 2024. So, which of the two truly taps into the gamer in you?

Disclaimer: This article only compares the Infinix GT 20 Pro and POCO X6 Pro 5G using publicly available details. Real-world experiences vary from user to user and apps and games installed.

Design

The Infinix GT 20 Pro and POCO X6 Pro 5G took the design route differently. The Infinix GT 20 Pro went for the cyberpunk theme, giving you a futuristic visual and feel. You can take advantage of the LED interface at the back.

Meanwhile, the POCO X6 Pro 5G has a minimalist design to meet any OOTD. The only attention-catcher is the yellow version which has a faux leather back.

Both phones have similar camera islands – squarish for the Infinix and rectangular for the POCO. So, it’s all about preference at the end of the day.

Display

Here is the first struggle: size or resolution? Both the Infinix GT 20 Pro and POCO X6 Pro 5G have an AMOLED panel, excellent for battery life. The panel is known for its natural blacks and better color accuracy, in general, compared to LCD.

However, the Infinix GT 20 Pro only sports 1080p resolution, lower than the 1220p or 1.5K of the POCO X6. The Infinix gaming phone makes up with its bigger 6.78 inches display than the 6.67 inches of the POCO gaming device.

Also, the Infinix GT 20 Pro supports 144 Hz refresh rate, higher than the 120 Hz of the POCO X6 Pro 5G. Some players prefer 144 Hz for extremely smooth and responsive experience on select titles, particularly MOBAs and first-person shooters.

Audio

You can easily be immersed by the Infinix GT 20 Pro and POCO X6 Pro 5G, thanks to their stereo speakers and audio enhancements. The sounds aren’t impeccable on either device, however, so it’ll be up to your preference.

If there’s anything worth mentioning, it’s the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack on both smartphones. You’ll be forced to use USB-C headphones or a toggle.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro sports JBL, DTS, and Hi-Res audio enhancers, while the POCO X6 Pro 5G boasts Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res enhancers.

Performance

Here are what set these two apart: processor and graphics. No more sugarcoating but the POCO X6 Pro 5G wins by default. This is because it’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra, which is more powerful than the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate of the Infinix GT 20 Pro.

See the comparison of their chipset below.

While raw performance isn’t everything, the POCO X6 Pro 5G has more processing power for graphically-demanding and CPU-intensive games than the Infinix GT 20 Pro. But we’re not discounting the fact that the latter can run them, perhaps at lower graphics settings.

Keep in mind that the state of a game also matters. If poorly created, a game won’t run smoothly even on flagship smartphones.

So, is this the end for the Infinix gaming phone? Not yet because it still has a few tricks.

Battery

Both smartphones have tanky batteries, enough to last an entire day on casual use. Obviously, playing games will drain their 5,000 mAh batteries quickly. Using 5G most of the time will do the same. Combine 5G and gaming? Expect the battery bar to drop like crazy!

Luckily, the Infinix GT 20 Pro can charge fast with the 45 W quick charging. The POCO X6 Pro 5G charges faster with 67 W rapid charging.

But here’s where Infinix can elevate your gaming experience. You can play for hours on end with bypass charging. Game all you want like playing on a console. Plus, the charger’s end is sideways so you can charge and hold your phone comfortably.

The POCO phone lacks bypass charging and the charger’s end is of typical design. Playing while charging is a challenge.

Game Assistant

Another edge of the Infinix GT 20 Pro over the POCO X6 Pro 5G is the dedicated gaming chipset, separate from the main processor. The brand claims that this dedicated chip allows you to achieve 120 FPS gaming experience.

It’s augmented with a frame-rate stabilizing engine to help maintain constant 120 FPS gaming. Although the POCO X6 Pro 5G can play at 120 FPS, the Infinix phone attempts to enable it on any games you want, circumventing games that don’t support above 60 FPS natively.

Both phones include gaming assistant software for easy access to quick functions and even performance monitoring.

Final Thoughts

Raw performance? The clear winner is the POCO X6 Pro 5G. Overall? The Infinix GT 20 Pro may be the winner. The Infinix handset has a 108 MP main shooter and 32 MP selfie camera, better in resolutions than the 64 MP and 16 MP on the POCO phone.

The POCO X6 Pro 5G takes the lead for gaming because it can handle MOBA, FPS, 4X, and open-world titles. It’s designed to unleash performance so you can immerse yourself in any game world.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro, on the other hand, excels at smoothness with the aim to peak at 144 FPS. Thus, it’s an optimal choice for MOBA and FPS. It can still play open-world games but depending on the graphics requirements, you may have to lower the settings.

Can’t decide? Perhaps the price will help. The Infinix GT 20 Pro is sold with 12+256 GB capacity for PHP 16,199 SRP. The POCO X6 Pro 5G is sold with 8+256 GB capacity for PHP 16,999 SRP. The latter has a more expensive 12+512 GB variant.
