While DeepSeek causes havoc in the American tech industry, Google quietly responds with their 2.0 Flash AI model.

Starting Thursday, Gemini users can take advantage of the 2.0 Flash model in addition to the prior 1.5 model. The model, which initially emerged in December, does more than just accelerate the AI model. It also increases the accuracy and ability of the AI to generate text, audio, and images by including Imagen 3, Google’s text-to-image generator.
Gemini 2.0 also represents the company’s transition into the agentic era, which enhances AI’s ability to not only respond but also aid the user in a range of tasks. For example, during the 2.0 announcement, Google demonstrated two research prototypes, Project Astra and Project Mariner. Project Astra was created to let users interact with and understand the actual world. Project Mariner delves into the future of task automation via artificial intelligence.
Google Advanced users should expect a big improvement over the previous model with the 2.0 Pro Experimental. However, Google warned that because the model is still in its early stages, users may encounter unexpected behaviors. In such instances, 1.5 Pro can still be used.
