Gmail’s upcoming temporary email address feature is a convenient way to fight spam emails.
The most popular email platform may soon introduce a much-desired feature. Named “Shielded Email,” it was spotted under Autofill with Google in the phone’s Settings menu.
However, clicking the feature will only lead you to an empty page on myaccount.google.com, according to a report. Once it becomes available, you can use a temp email for almost everything online.
If you don’t know, nearly every app or site requires you to use a registered email to login and access the features. But many apps and websites tend to send numerous emails that you don’t even want to read. Some are simply junk or spams and of course, they may contain unwanted content.
The temp email will receive emails for you and separates them from your real email so data remains secure. Though, a temp email cannot make an outgoing email in Google’s Shielded Email. One possible trade-off is the ability to create more than one Shielded Email per instance.
For now, the feature is a concept and may take some time to kick off. But if it goes official, Gmail will have a champ to beat spams.
Do you get lots of spam emails?
