The first Google Pixel tablet is still in the works, but there’s something fascinating about it only having one variation is kinda refreshing
The release of Google’s Pixel Tablet has undoubtedly taken a very long time. It was first hinted at in May 2022, but despite one being listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace in December, it is still unofficial. Today, a fresh rumor about the impending gadget comes from a generally trustworthy source.
Contrary to some earlier rumors, there won’t be a distinction between the “vanilla” and “Pro” versions of the Pixel Tablet. The more expensive of the two potential iterations were kept, and somewhere along the line, it appears that the lower-end model with the older Tensor chipset was canceled.
The remaining Pixel Tablet will ship with a 2,560×1,600 resolution screen made by China Star Optoelectronics, a Richtek RT4539 six-channel LED driver, and the Tensor G2 SoC found in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
Expect to see an LCD screen instead of an AMOLED one on Google’s upcoming tablet since this is used for LCD screen backlights. At least one Pixel Tablet model includes a side-mounted fingerprint reader and 8GB of RAM made by Samsung. It also has 256GB of UFS storage (most likely embedded into the power button).
You can view some recent Pixel Tablet leaks above. It will have a dock for convenient use as a smart display, as previously disclosed, but it’s not clear whether this will be provided in the box or sold as an extra accessory. It’s not often we’re eight months after the maker first teased the device that it hasn’t become official in that time, so hopefully, the Pixel Tablet launches sooner rather than later.
