Google has started teasing its next-generation smartphones ahead of their official debut. After confirming last week that the Pixel 11 series will launch on August 12 in New York City, the company has now released its first teaser video, revealing a new feature called Pixel Glow and confirming when pre-orders will begin.
The teaser was quietly posted on the homepage of the Google Store, giving fans an early look at one of the Pixel 11’s rumored features.
The biggest reveal from the teaser is Pixel Glow, a new circular LED light built into the phone.
The LED is capable of displaying a full range of colors and appears to function as a notification light. While Google hasn’t explained exactly how it works, the feature is expected to alert users to incoming notifications, calls, and other events.
Since the LED supports multiple colors, it’s possible that users will be able to assign different colors to different apps or notifications. However, Google has not confirmed whether that level of customization will be available.
The teaser also marks the first time Google has officially confirmed the Pixel 11 branding.
Although previous leaks had already referred to the upcoming devices as the Pixel 11 series, this is the first official confirmation from Google itself.
The Pixel 11 family is scheduled to be unveiled during Google’s launch event in New York City on August 12.
Google has also confirmed that pre-orders for the Pixel 11 series will open on August 12, the same day as the official announcement.
The company is also offering a special promotion for customers in the United States.
Users who visit the Google Store and register their email address before August 7 at 11:59 PM PT will receive a promotional code via email on August 12. The code can be used toward the purchase of a Pixel 11 device and will remain valid until August 27 at 11:59 PM PT.
Google has not yet revealed the value of the discount or the specific terms of the promotion.
