Honor 70 Series: The Newest Midrange Challenger?

Rumors of a phone equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chipset paired with a similarly impressive SONY IMX800 camera are making premium midrange phones panic. It’s the Honor 70 series that’s making headlines as the newest challenger in the midrange section of the smartphone world.

However, one of the most exciting phones from the Honor 70 series is the Honor 70 Pro plus. Just like how POCO throws in the best specs and features in a budget phone, the company behind the Honor 70 series is cramming all the best and newest features they possibly could into the Honor 70 Pro Plus.

First off, the cameras: the Honor 70 Pro Plus is the first to use SONY’s IMX800, the largest phone camera sensor ever to be made and beats Samsung’s GN2 camera sensor. Even if Honor released a phone with only 50MP for its main camera, the quality of the photos it could take at night may be the sole basis for the winner of the best camera phone for 2022.

The Honor 70 Pro Plus is rumored to be using a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chipset. Comparing this to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the Dimensity 9000 beats the former in every aspect: CPU, gaming, and battery life. Of course, that’s up to debate, as numbers may not represent the overall user experience – we’d just have to wait for the devices before giving a conclusion.

Powering the device will be a massive 4600mAh to power up the similarly wide 6.78” display. This device is an eye-candy – a 120Hz refresh rate, 2.5D curved glass display, and an FHD+ display will make it a tough phone to beat in the midrange.

However, these specs will have an apt price. There’s no official statement from Honor yet about its pricing or availability, but the phone is estimated to be released in India on December 31st of this year, with minor leaks from the company itself happening sometime on May 30, 2022, just three days from now.
