Samsung‘s Privacy Display feature could soon appear on more flagship phones, and HONOR looks ready to join the trend.
The Privacy Display first appeared on the Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year and quickly became one of the phone’s biggest selling points. The feature limits screen viewing angles, making it harder for people nearby to see what’s on your display.
Now, a new rumor claims HONOR is developing its own version of the technology with the help of a Chinese display manufacturer.
According to the leak, HONOR is currently testing the feature on two upcoming smartphones. One device reportedly has a 6.3-inch display, while the other features a larger 6.8-inch screen. These are believed to be part of the upcoming HONOR Magic9 series, which is expected to launch later this year.
HONOR isn’t the only company interested in the technology. Earlier reports suggested that Xiaomi is also working on a similar Privacy Display feature for the Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The report adds that Samsung Display plans to offer its Privacy Display technology to other smartphone brands by the end of 2028. Until then, some Chinese smartphone makers may wait for Samsung’s solution, while others are choosing to develop their own versions with local display suppliers.
For now, it’s unclear how these Chinese-developed Privacy Displays will compare to Samsung’s implementation. However, it’s clear that many Android brands have taken notice of Samsung’s display innovation.
With both HONOR and Xiaomi reportedly working on similar solutions, Privacy Display technology could become the next big feature in flagship smartphones. More details are expected to surface in the coming months.
