HONOR has officially revealed another major feature of the upcoming HONOR X80 Pro Max, confirming that it will become the industry’s first smartphone to offer a display with a peak brightness exceeding 10,000 nits.
The announcement comes just days after HONOR confirmed the device’s June 22 launch date and revealed that it will pack a massive 11,000mAh battery.
According to a new teaser shared by the company, the HONOR X80 Pro Max will feature a 1.5K display with a resolution of 2788 × 1280 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. HONOR claims the panel delivers brightness levels that are 67% higher than the HONOR X70, while the screen is surrounded by ultra-slim 1.3mm bezels.
HONOR also confirmed that the device will debut with its new Hummingbird Architecture 2.0 technology.
According to the company, the updated architecture can make short-form video playback up to 40% smoother. It also performs memory cleanup tasks in the background, helping maintain long-term system performance and responsiveness.
Durability appears to be another major focus for the X80 Pro Max.
HONOR says the device has earned SGS Gold Label Five-Star Drop Resistance Certification, having survived drops from heights of up to 3 meters during testing.
To further highlight the phone’s durability, HONOR is introducing a free screen replacement service for accidental drop damage, which the company claims is an industry first.
Most of the specifications have already leaked
While the phone is not set to launch until June 22 at 7:00 PM, a steady stream of leaks has already revealed most of its key specifications.
The display is said to measure 6.8 inches and will house an 8MP front-facing camera.
On the rear, the device is expected to feature a 50MP main camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). Leaks also suggest that both the frame and rear panel could be constructed from plastic.
Powering the smartphone is expected to be Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset.
Additional features are rumored to include an optical fingerprint scanner and extensive durability certifications, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Perhaps the most impressive detail is the phone’s physical design. Despite reportedly packing an enormous 11,000mAh battery, the HONOR X80 Pro Max is said to measure just 8.08mm thick and weigh 203 grams.
With a record-breaking display, one of the largest batteries ever fitted into a mainstream smartphone, flagship-grade durability features, and a relatively slim profile, the HONOR X80 Pro Max is shaping up to be one of HONOR’s most ambitious devices yet.
The smartphone is scheduled to make its official debut in China on June 22.
