Industry insiders believe that this is part of a bigger problem plaguing HUAWEI’s proprietary OS. Mainly due to the fact that HUAWEI previously announced that all PCs in 2025 would run HarmonyOS Next in order for the company to foster a unified ecosystem across its devices.

What is HarmonyOS NEXT?

HarmonyOS NEXT is HUAWEI’s proprietary OS built on a custom microkernel. It was designed to offer a seamless experience across smartphones, tablets, wearables, and PCs, similar to how Apple does in their ecosystem.

Creating a unified ecosystem is just one part of the reason. Another we could think of is to lessen the reliance on Western technology. Especially with rising tensions between the U.S. and China.

One thing is for sure: the shift from Linux and Windows to HUAWEI’s HarmonyOS Next is inevitable. We sure would like to test it for ourselves once HUAWEI gets it up and running.

How ‘bout you? Would you use a HarmonyOS NEXT powered laptop?
