HUAWEI has introduced its first AI powered companion called Smart Hanhan. This device is more than a cute plush gadget. It can converse, respond to touch, remember your interactions and even sense your mood. It is designed to combine technology with emotional connection.

Soft Exterior with Smart Technology
Smart Hanhan looks like a plush pet with soft fabric and a cuddly form. It measures 80 by 68 by 82 millimeters and weighs just 140 grams. Inside, HUAWEI’s Xiaoyi AI gives it the ability to understand context and carry on natural conversations. It reacts not only to voice but also to touch. Stroking or tapping it can trigger different facial expressions or movements.
Battery Life, Memory and Integration

Smart Hanhan runs on an 1800 mAh battery. That’s enough for 6–8 hours of continuous interaction, or over 48 hours under normal daily use. To recharge fully takes about six hours.
If paired with a phone running HarmonyOS 5.0 or newer, Hanhan can also link with a “diary system.” Every conversation, every emotional exchange gets logged — essentially letting the companion “remember” past interactions.
For early adopters, HUAWEI includes a complimentary 3‑month SVIP membership, giving unlimited “conversation energy points.” In other words: you get full access to chat and emotional‑companion features from the get‑go.
What Smart Hanhan Means for Personal AI

With its plush‑meets‑AI design, context‑aware responses, and memory logging, Smart Hanhan could appeal to people looking for something more intimate than a smart speaker or basic virtual assistant. Someone living alone but craving comforting interaction. Or a fan of “tech pets” who want a little emotional presence.
Still, it raises questions: how secure and private are these conversations and memories? Will data stay local, or get synced to the cloud? As “emotional companions” get smarter, boundaries between gadget and personal space blur, and as a user, you have to ask what that means.
Do you think emotional AI companions are useful or just a novelty?
