Huawei MatePad SE: Unboxing and first impressions – Unbox Diaries

On February 2023, Huawei released the 2023 version of their Huawei MatePad. It is powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor, coupled with 4 gigs of RAM and 128 GB worth of storage. It also has a number of good features for entertainment

Right out of the box, the tablet looks more premium and clean. The 4+128GB tablet has a price offer of ₱13,999.00 and with a hands-on experience, it is good enough for most users.

What’s in the box?

It is packed in a simple and straightforward white box with a picture of the MatePad SE at the front. The box also has the Huawei branding and inside are documentations, 10W charger, USB-C cable and the tablet itself. There is also a dedicated SIM ejector and a Huawei folio cover inside the box.

The actual tablet design

The Huawei Matepad SE has an all black color and it also has a metallic feel on its back, whilst its edges are most certainly plastic. it only has one circular camera module. The tablet’s back is easily smudged so it is preferable to use it with its folio cover. The power and volume buttons are located at the upper side, and on its left side are two loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On its right side are two more loudspeakers, sim tray, and a USB-C port.

SIM tray and charging

The tablet’s sim tray is located at the right side, beside the USB-C port and two loudspeakers. The MatePad only has 10W charging adapter.

How is the display?

The tablet has a 2k 60 Hz display, with its 2 MP selfie camera located above the screen, within the bezel. The tablet’s bezels are thin and when watching videos, there is nothing able to obstruct the viewing experience.

Camera

The MatePad has a 5MP rear camera that can capture images up to 2592 × 1944 pixels and record 1080P videos. Its front camera has 2MP that can capture images up to 1600 x 1200 pixels and record 720P videos. The overall performance of the camera is quite right, along with its basic features.

Performance

The MatePad SE has several storage options, from 3/4 GB RAM, and ROM options ranging from 32 – 128 GB. It is powered by a Snapdragon 680 and it scored around 230,000 in AnTuTu benchmark.

Battery

The MatePad SE is equipped with a 5100 mAh battery, suitable for daily use. It has a 10W charger which is quite enough for most users.

Conclusion

The lowest version of the tablet ha a price of 9,999 whilst the highest capable version is 13,999. For its price point, the MatePad SE is a good tablet for family use, especially for kids that want to watch various kids shows such as Cocomelon and the like. Overall, the tablet has a good screen and decent specification, good enough for watching your favorite shows.
