HUAWEI has officially expanded its nova 16 lineup with the launch of the HUAWEI nova 16 SE in China. The new smartphone combines a massive 8,500mAh battery, a 120Hz AMOLED display, the Kirin 8020 chipset, and HarmonyOS 6.1, making it one of the more battery-focused devices in Huawei’s current portfolio.
The HUAWEI nova 16 SE’s biggest highlight is its 8,500mAh battery, offering significantly more capacity than most smartphones currently on the market.
When it’s time to recharge, the phone supports 66W wired fast charging.
On the front, the nova 16 SE features a 6.84-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations.
HUAWEI also claims the panel can reach up to 8,000 nits peak brightness, improving visibility under bright outdoor conditions.
Powering the device is HUAWEI’s Kirin 8020 processor.
The smartphone is available with up to 512GB of internal storage, although HUAWEI has not specified RAM configurations.
For photography, the nova 16 SE features a dual rear camera setup consisting of:
- 50MP main camera
- 1.5MP Red Maple color sensor
On the front, it houses a 32MP selfie camera for photos and video calls.
The nova 16 SE ships with HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box.
One of its standout features is two-way satellite messaging, allowing users to send and receive messages even when conventional mobile networks are unavailable.

HUAWEI has also equipped the nova 16 SE with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

- Sky White
Price and availability
The HUAWEI nova 16 SE is available in three storage variants in China:
