Xiaomi has officially launched HyperOS 3, a major software update based on Android 16. The update focuses on five key areas, introducing significant changes to the user interface, core performance, and cross-device functionality.

1. Super Island

This is Xiaomi’s take on a dynamic notification hub. It provides an interactive space around the front camera to show real-time live activities, such as timers, delivery updates, and media controls. The feature supports multiple simultaneous tasks and provides quick access to app controls with a simple tap.
2. Performance Improvements

HyperOS 3 brings a number of under-the-hood optimizations. The system is built on a new HyperCore engine, which claims to deliver:
- 21% faster app launches.
- 15% better gaming performance.
- 9% lower touch latency.
- 10% less power consumption for video playback.
3. Visual Overhaul

The user interface has been redesigned with a cleaner aesthetic. It features new, rounded icons, a simplified status bar, and a “liquid glass” effect. The new design emphasizes a more modern and consistent visual experience across the system.
4. Cross-Platform Integration
HyperOS 3 introduces deeper compatibility with external devices, particularly within Apple’s ecosystem. New features include:
- The ability to run up to three mobile app windows on a Mac.
- Seamless file transfers between Xiaomi devices and Macs.
- The option to unlock a Xiaomi phone using Apple’s Touch ID.
5. Cinematic Lock Screen

The lock screen now offers extensive customization. Users can create unique, dynamic wallpapers using AI and new editing tools. The feature, referred to as “Cinematic Lock Screen,” allows for personalized motion effects and styles, turning a static image into an animated background.
