Deepseek just claimed another notch on its belt.

First it was nubia, then came realme, now it’s Infinix who’s knocking on DeepSeek’s proverbial door. The Chinese AI startup is known for causing a stir in the tech industry for matching, and in some cases, beating industry leaders such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Why DeepSeek? Why not Gemini?
Even before DeepSeek’s arrival, the market has already been flooded with AI models with their own distinct capabilities. However, the cost of training and developing AI models is exorbitantly high. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of energy needed to power the model.
Then DeepSeek came onto the scene, boasting a similar performance to the industry leader at a fraction of the cost. This enabled DeepSeek to undercut competitors when it came to offering licensing fees to phone manufacturers.
How will Infinix implement the integration?
Infinix will reportedly be baking in DeepSeek’s R1 AI model into their own personal voice assistant called Folax. The fusion will improve the assistant’s capability in handling various tasks and queries. The feature is now being tested with results yielding a positive improvement on response times.
Note 50 series: More than just AI
But enough about the AI; let’s talk about the Infinix Note 50 series. Infinix has already teased the announcement on their social media pages. The Note 50 series is slated to launch on March 3 in Indonesia.
The event is expected to churn out a few devices, with many more coming in sometime in the future. These models include the standard Note 50, Note 50 Pro, Note 50 Pro+, and many more.
Surprisingly, there’s not much information on the Note 50 series apart from the launch date. I guess we’ll just have to wait for Infinix’s event to know more.
