Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G Review: Built to Slay any Battle

If you think that the NOTE 50 Pro is all that Infinix has to offer, well… you’d be wrong. Prepare to meet the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G, a phone being positioned as the CODM Flagship Edition Gaming Phone. Although we think that the plus designation is a bit of a misnomer, why? Let’s find out…

Unboxing Experience

Let’s start off with the unboxing experience. Just like before, Infinix gives us the whole shebang. Packed in a box that gives in to the gamer aesthetic, you’ll know immediately that this phone means business.

Inside, we’ll get the following:

–        The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G itself

–        A 100W fast charger

–        A USB Type-C cable

–        A protective case

–        A SIM ejector tool

–        A screen protector (that’s a first…)

–        Documentation, including an S-VIP Card

Don’t want to leave it to your imagination? Then check out our unboxing video below.

We’ve previously mentioned this before on our unboxing of the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro, but we’ll say it again. In an era where smartphone accessories have been dwindling in inclusions, we’re quite ecstatic that Infinix decided to break the mold and equip the user with all the things that a phone user needs.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get on with the phone itself, starting with the Design and Build.

Flagship shell without the Flagship price

Unlike other gaming-focused smartphones in the market, the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G doesn’t flash its pedigree, it simply doesn’t need to. It’s subtle and elegant, but behind that subtle design is an Ultra-Resilient ArmorAlloy™ Metal Frame crafted using a technology called HyperCasting in which Damascus steel and aerospace-grade aluminum are combined to create a highly durable and highly effective cooling.

Measuring just 8mm thin and weighing 209g, the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G feels solid in the hand without being too heavy. Combine that with a glass back and a metal frame, and you have yourself a phone that looks and feels like a million bucks. And, it isn’t a slouch either, boasting an IP64 dust and water resistance rating and a TÜV SÜD fall impact resistance certification.

Looking at the camera module, it incorporates the distinctive Octagonal Camera Module, inspired by high-performance car grilles. To give it more oomph, Infinix also incorporated the Bio-Active Halo AI Lighting, which for the uninitiated, is a multi-color mini-LED system that provides dynamic visual cues for calls, notifications, charging, and Folax AI interactions (more on that in a second).

The NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G is also available in multiple colors, including Titanium Grey, Enchanted Purple, and a striking Racing Edition, catering to every personality.

Ultra-Smooth, Vivid, and Eye-Friendly

What good is a great design if you don’t have a display to back it up? Well, Infinix has got you covered. Matching the design is a large 6.78-inch 1080p 144Hz Eye-Care AMOLED display, which delivers exceptionally fluid visuals. What’s more is that the phone can reach a peak brightness of 1300 nits, ensuring that visuals stay sharp and vibrant even in the bright PH sun.

Infinix also made it a point to prioritize eye comfort with a 2304Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce flicker at low brightness and a TÜV Rheinland low-blue light certification. And for the sweaty gamers out there, such as myself… the display has a Wet & Greasy Touch technology that ensures the screen remains responsive even in the sweatiest conditions.

Dimensity 8350 Ultimate Unleashed

If the box didn’t give you enough clues as to how performance-oriented this device is then I don’t know what will… At the heart of the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G lies the formidable MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset. This beast of a chip can deliver unparalleled performance, reaching scores of over 1.45 million on AnTuTu benchmarks.

How does that translate in the real world, you say? It can go up to 120fps in titles like PUBG, HOK, MLBB, and for even more demanding games like CoDM, it can produce a steady 90fps. It even supports 5.5G connectivity that greatly improves download speeds and enhances call quality.

Coupled with up to 24GB of high-speed LPDDR5X RAM (12GB physical + 12GB Extended), 256GB of industry-leading UFS 4.0 storage, Super WiFi 2.0, a large VC heat dissipation system that prevents throttling, and last but not the least, X-Axis linear motors that provide precise haptic feedback.

I’ll let the NOTE 50 Pro+ do all the talking with our gaming test.

Versatile Imaging with 100X Periscope Power

Usually, performance-oriented phones tend to compromise on camera performance in order to fit more power, but not the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G. Spearheading the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G’s impressive camera array is a 50 MP SONY IMX896 main sensor that captures excellent details and performs well in low light, thanks to its large sensor size.

We’ve already gone through the trouble of testing the camera so that you won’t have to. Starting off with the main sensor. Pictures taken with the main sensor show good detail and clarity, especially in well-lit conditions.

Colors are vibrant and possess a decent dynamic range, capturing highlights and shadows reasonably well. And the f/1.8 aperture helps in creating a shallow depth of field for close-up subjects.

But, probably the most unique feature of this camera array is the 50 MP Periscope Telephoto lens, offering 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless digital zoom, and even going as far as 100x digital zoom. Additionally, there’s an 8 MP Ultra-Wide camera for those 0.5 shots, and a 32 MP front camera for selfies.

Here are a few photos that showcase the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G’s telephoto, starting off with 2x zoom.

Going up, we have the 3x zoom, which shows an even further step in magnification. Detail remains preserved, though with a slight decrease over the 1x or 2x zoom, as expected with higher zoom levels.

We’re going to double that amount with the 6x zoom. Now, while impressive, the detail here is less sharp than at lower zoom levels. Noise has become more apparent, especially in less-than-ideal lighting. Still, it’s impressive how a phone of this price manages to reach such magnification.

And just to humor our curiosity, we also tried the 100x zoom. Just look at how far we shot the photo, the street sign was barely noticeable and voila! Just like that, you can now make out the word “obedience”. To be honest, we’re quite impressed with how it turned out, I mean not all phones will reach this level of magnification.

Moving on to the Ultrawide, photos look consistent with the main sensor. Although expect some distortions towards the edges, which is quite common in ultrawide lenses.

Last on our list is the Portrait mode, which produces decent subject separation, making the subject stand out. Edge detection appears to be reasonably accurate, although complex edges like hair can sometimes pose a challenge for portrait modes.

Adding to the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G’s camera arsenal is Infinix’s AI RAW algorithm that enhances image processing for better color accuracy, noise reduction, and resolution. You’ll also have the ability to record 4K video at 60fps.

For video, the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G can shoot up to 4K at 60fps. We’ll let you be the judge of that.

Leading the Charge with 100W+50W

If you look at just the amount itself, you’d think that this is where Infinix didn’t apply its Plus mantra, equipping the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G with the same 5200 mAh battery as the NOTE 50 Pro but you’d be wrong again… The NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G utilizes cutting-edge Silicon-Carbon anode technology for higher energy density and longevity.

And, to top it all off, Infinix has equipped the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G with a blazing-fast 100W wired charging, propelling the phone from 1-100% in just 32 minutes. Wanna go wireless? Infinix got you covered. The NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G also supports 50W Wireless MagCharge.

It’s also packed full of features like Bypass Charging, which doesn’t damage the battery if you decide to play while being plugged in, PowerReserve that saves your tushy in low-battery situations, and lastly, reverse charging, which helps a fellow user in need.

Entering the Gen Beta Era

Infinix ships the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G with XOS 15 on top of Android 15 out of the box, with support for up to 2 years of major Android upgrades and 3 years of security patches. And, given that we’re living in the “Gen Beta” era, AI has become a staple in smartphone software these days, but not everyone does it right.

This is what Infinix sought to provide, a useful, I mean really useful AI features that enhances the user experience. Leading the charge is the One-Tap Infinix AI (Folax), which offers a wide array of features:

  • Productivity: Document Assistant (summaries from files), Recording Summary, AI Writing assistance.
  • Creativity: AI Eraser/Cutout, AI Note (sketch-to-image), AI Wallpaper Generator.
  • Interaction: One-Tap Query (ask about on-screen content, cross-app execution), Deep Seek R1 integration for complex queries.
  • Communication: Real-Time Call Translator, Speech Enhancement, AI Auto-Answer, Call Summary.
  • Privacy: AI Privacy Masking.
  • Health: AI-powered Heart Rate and Blood Oxygen (SpO2) monitoring using the dedicated sensor and My Health app.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G: Verdict

There’s no doubt that the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ will make a name for itself as one of the best mid-range phones of this year. With unbeatable specs like a 144Hz 1080p Eye-Care AMOLED display, a powerful Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset, a versatile camera system, and practical AI features, this phone truly lives up to its “Fast to First” motto.
