It hasn’t even been a full month since the XPAD GT dropped, and Infinix is already back at it—this time setting its sights on the budget tablet market. Because let’s be real: not everyone can casually drop five figures on a device.

But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for less. With the Infinix XPAD 20, you’re getting a tablet that makes every peso count—smart, capable, and built for everyday hustle without the premium price tag.

Unboxing

Unboxing the XPAD 20 won’t blow your mind; it’s a pretty typical experience overall. But don’t mistake that for complacency, because it covers the basics and more. No unnecessary drama, just simple and straight to the point.

Lifting the top part will reveal… another box! But this isn’t just a filler; inside, it contains the included folio case. That’s quite a bonus when you consider that most companies don’t bother with accessories for their tablets. Lift that up and you’ll finally be greeted by the XPAD 20 itself, wrapped in a cloth-like sleeve.

Aside from the folio and XPAD 20, there’s also a charging brick and an accompanying USB Type-C cable, as well as a SIM ejector pin and a few papers to get you started.

Simple Yet Elegant

Now that we’ve got the unboxing out of the way, let’s turn our attention to the star of the show: the XPAD 20 itself. We have ours in the Stellar Grey colorway but you can also get yours in some funky and definitely unique colorways like Forest Green, Dreamy Purple, and Rising Red.

Unlike its bigger and more expensive sibling, the XPAD 20 doesn’t have the gamer aesthetic that the XPAD GT boasts. Instead, it’s going for a much more subtle and elegant approach. Enclosed in a sleek metal-like finish, the XPAD 20 feels premium in the hand—not plasticky or flimsy like other entry-level options.

While not exactly pocketable (unless you have really big pants), the slim 7.9mm profile and 498g weight are still plenty convenient, especially if you’re a student working at a coffee shop or a young professional commuting to and from work. And with an included IP52 splash and dust resistance rating, you can be sure that this baby stays protected from everyday elements.

Surprisingly Good for the Price

Now here’s where it starts to punch above its weight. The 11-inch FHD+ IPS display is roomy and sharp enough for reading e-books, taking down lecture notes, or binge-watching your favorite K-drama. With a 90Hz refresh rate, scrolling feels smoother than you’d expect—whether you’re flipping through PDFs or swiping on TikTok.

It’s also TÜV Rheinland-certified for Low Blue Light, which is a huge plus for long study sessions or late-night cram reviews. Add in Eye Comfort Mode, and it becomes a cozy reading partner when you’re burning the midnight oil.

Just the Right Amount of Power

Alright, before we get into what makes the XPAD 20 a compelling choice for students and young professionals, or even those looking to buy a tablet without dropping ₱10,000+, let’s first talk about the performance.

Under the hood, the XPAD 20 is kitted with a MediaTek Helio G88 processor, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You also get 4G LTE support, which for a tablet at this price point is a big plus, considering its competitors often only ship with Wi-Fi-only configurations.

If you’re ever worried about maxing out the included 128GB or 256GB of storage, the XPAD 20 supports expandable storage up to 1TB via microSD—so don’t worry about running out of space for downloaded videos, project files, or all those lecture screenshots.

Now, I know you must be thinking, “Helio G88? Would that be enough?” And the short answer is… Yes! While it may not win any performance drag race against tablets of a higher price bracket, juggling Google Classroom, Canva, Zoom, and a few Chrome tabs won’t be an issue.

For gaming, it’s important to temper your expectations and realize that this isn’t a gaming tablet but rather an all-around workhorse. Casual games like Mobile Legends or Subway Surfers are fine; heck, it can even play CODM, which, if you think about it, is a huge feat!

Where the XPAD 20 really shines

If it isn’t for gaming, then what’s it really for? And I’m glad you asked: it’s meant for three words: Study, Chill, and Repeat.

With the XPAD 20, you can work hard AND play hard (by playing, we mean playing a movie…) simultaneously. Despite its measly price, the XPAD 20 can do split-screen mode and floating windows.

Want to watch a tutorial while taking notes in Google Docs? You got it! Are you doing a group project while in a work-from-home setup? No problem! It’s like having two mini-monitors in one tablet; the opportunities are just endless.

Apart from the impressive multitasking capabilities, the XPAD 20 also prides itself on fostering multi-device collaborations with the help of their Instant Transfer Connectivity. With Instant Transfer, you can link all your devices with just one click, whether it’s a smartphone or a laptop. You can share documents with ease just by dragging and dropping.

Battery: The Real MVP

We forgot to mention in the performance section of the XPAD 20 that one of the key reasons for choosing the MediaTek Helio G88 as its chipset is its stellar track record in battery efficiency. Pair that with a large 7,000 mAh battery, and you have a device that’ll last through the full school day and still have enough juice for assignments or for relaxing.

One area that we wish could have been improved is with regards to its charging. The XPAD 20 only supports 10W charging, so don’t expect lightning speeds. But since you have a large battery with an efficient chipset, you’ll likely only need to charge this in the evening when you’re about to sleep.

Infinix AI: Smarter Than You’d Expect

We’re a bit surprised at how Infinix managed to cram AI features that were only present in their more powerful devices but still managed to keep the price accessible. At the heart of it all is Folax, Infinix’s AI voice assistant powered by the DeepSeek-R1. Just ask it to search, take notes, solve math problems, or even generate AI images, and it’ll do it all for you in record time.

What if you don’t know how to describe what you see? Then try the Smart Screen Recognition that quickly extracts texts or images from your screen with just a two-finger long press.

Well, what if you don’t understand what you hear or see on the screen? Folax has you covered with its AI Translation Modes. Now you can translate texts, images, and even conversations in real-time.

Camera: Basic but Serviceable

There are also camera modes like Portrait, Time-Lapse, Panorama, and Beauty Mode if you’re into that sort of thing. For video, the XPAD 20 can shoot 1080p at 30fps.
