Remove those photobombers and eyesores on pics with Apple Intelligence’s Clean Up.
Erasing undesirable things on your captures is now possible, thanks to artificial intelligence. With Apple heading the same route as other brands, it’s now testing a new feature that removes those nasties out of your images.
Courtesy of iOS 18.1 Beta 3, the Clean Up feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, can erase photobombers, other peeps, and unpleasant objects on your captures. It’s found in the Photos app during editing and appears as an eraser-style icon in the toolbar.
The feature seems very intelligent because it has a seamless way of removing unwanted details. Instead of just deleting the person or object, the tool also detects associated shadows from the image, letting it remove those too.
A report also revealed that an image edited this way would be labeled “Modified by Clean Up.” The AI label would be included in the image’s exchangeable image file (EXIF) format as well.
A computer, special software, iMessage, or AirDrop can detect it in the readable data. If shared via third-party apps like Telegram and WhatsApp, the label won’t be included.
Again, the new feature is only available in the iOS 18.1 Beta 3 and the labeling will likely be fixed on the stable version.
