iOS 18 premieres with enhancements but the first set of Apple Intelligence features will arrive next month.
The iOS 18 is now live and it brings a deeper customization level for iPhone users. They can create a preferred layout by doing these tweaks:
- Frame the wallpaper using app icons and widgets.
- Add light, dark, or a color tint to app icons and widgets.
- Make app icons bigger.
- Adjust and organize the Control Center.
- Change or remove the controls on the lock screen.
The Photos app has been redesigned in this new version of iOS. New collections like Recent Days, People and Pets, and Trips are added for an organized photo library, all with on-device intelligence support. Users can rearrange their preferred layout as well.
The iOS 18 has enhanced privacy features and lets users manage them. They can now lock an app, hide an app, and share only specific contacts with an app. Locked or hidden apps will also limit their app notifications and content for privacy and peace of mind. These apps will be hidden from search and other areas of the system too.
iOS 18 also improves other apps, including Phone, Mail, Messages, and Safari. Next month, users of iOS 18 can finally experience Apple Intelligence and the first set of features include:
- Writing Tools for rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text.
- Memories for the Photos app to create movies using a description.
- Clean Up tool to remove unwanted objects in images.
