While Apple’s iPhone 16 launch is just around the corner (expected in September 2024), rumors are already swirling about the iPhone 17 lineup, slated for next September.
Prolific leakster Ice Universe offers a glimpse into the entire iPhone 17 family, including a surprise upgrade for the next iPhone SE: an OLED screen, a first for Apple’s budget-friendly option.
Standard iPhone 17 Gets a Display and Performance Upgrade
The base iPhone 17 is rumored to receive a long-awaited display improvement: an LTPO panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, matching the capabilities of many high-end Android phones. This paves the way for Always-on Display, but Ice Universe suggests Apple might keep that feature exclusive to the Pro models. The standard iPhone 17 is also expected to pack 8GB of RAM and the A19 chip.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are also rumored to boast the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, and a triple-camera system with all three lenses (wide, telephoto, and ultrawide) upgraded to a whopping 48 megapixels.
Ultra-Thin iPhone 17 Slim/Ultra Debuts?
The previously leaked iPhone 17 Slim, possibly named iPhone 17 Ultra, could be a game-changer. This model is rumored to sport a completely redesigned, ultra-thin form factor. With no mention of design changes for the other iPhones, it seems the Slim/Ultra might be the trendsetter for a potential design shift across the lineup in 2026.
