New leaks point to major design and feature upgrades for iPhone 17e, showing that Apple might finally retire the notch even on its entry-level “e” model.
A clean, modern look — no notch, just Dynamic Island

According to renders shared by tipsters, the iPhone 17e will drop the traditional notch found on iPhone 16e. Instead it adopts the pill-shaped Dynamic Island feature already present on higher-end models.
The reported display remains a 6.1-inch OLED panel, the same size as previous “e” models with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
That means iPhone users who want the cleaner look and newer iOS-style interaction get to enjoy it even without paying for a Pro or flagship model.
Under the hood: Upgraded chip and smarter selfie camera

Leakers say the iPhone 17e will use the next-generation Apple A19 chip, bringing performance closer to standard iPhone 17 models.
On the front, rumors indicate a jump to an 18 MP selfie camera with Center Stage support; a feature that tracks you during video calls. On the back, expect a single 48 MP wide lens, similar to prior “e” models.
Such upgrades could make the 17e a solid balance between affordability and modern iPhone experience.
The shift to Dynamic Island is previously reserved mostly for premium devices; suggests Apple is narrowing the design gap between its entry-level and flagship phones. That follows a pattern of trickle-down features over time.
If Apple keeps the price accessible while adding these upgrades, the 17e could appeal to users upgrading from much older iPhones (iPhone 11, 12, 13, etc.) who want a modern display and competent performance without paying flagship prices.
What remains uncertain — and worth watching
Not everything about the 17e is clear. The 60 Hz panel suggests it still won’t get smoother refresh rates like ProMotion.
It’s also unclear if other premium features like advanced camera arrays, high-end Face ID hardware, or strong GPU cores will be included. Leaks mention that Apple may cut GPU cores to distinguish 17e from standard 17 models.
