The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are slightly easier to repair than last year’s models, according to Apple’s latest EU repairability ratings.

The iPhone 18 Pro scores 3.14 out of 5, up from 3.04 for the iPhone 17 Pro.
The biggest change is in the tools category, which rises from 2.05 to 2.55. Disassembly also improves slightly, from 2.65 to 2.75.
| Category | iPhone 17 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Overall | 3.04 | 3.14 |
| Disassembly | 2.65 | 2.75 |
| Fasteners | 3.80 | 3.80 |
| Tools | 2.05 | 2.55 |
| Spare parts | 4.00 | 4.00 |
| Software updates | 1.00 | 1.00 |
| Repair information | 5.00 | 5.00 |
The scores come from EU-required product information sheets that rate smartphones on disassembly, fasteners, tools, spare parts, software support and repair information.
Apple’s filing does not explain what specifically changed. The higher tools score could mean Apple has introduced new tools for accessing certain components.
Despite the improvement, both iPhone 18 Pro models remain Class C on the EU’s A-to-E repairability scale.
The real answer will come from the inside. iFixit is expected to tear down the new iPhones around the September 18 launch, potentially revealing what Apple changed.
Apple has also not yet published repairability data for the iPhone Duo, its upcoming foldable, since it is not yet available for pre-order.
In short, the iPhone 18 Pro is a little easier to repair, but it’s still far from a major repairability overhaul.
